Bank or credit card statement in, QuickBooks-ready CSV out. LedgerHawk reads every line, puts each amount on the right side, proves the rows against the opening and closing balances, and flags what you should look at.
No templates, no cleanup in Excel. The hawk reads it, proves it, and you download what QuickBooks wants.
1
Drop the statement
The PDF straight from the bank, a photo, or the CSV / Excel you already have. Bank accounts and credit cards.
2
Check the tie-out
Opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the closing balance. If it doesn't, the hawk points at the row.
3
Download
A clean Excel, the QuickBooks bank-feed CSV, and, if you dropped your chart of accounts, journal entries with the accounts you confirmed.

Transactions money in and money out from the account holder's side
For a credit card, purchases are money out and payments or refunds are money in. QuickBooks gets the right direction either way.
5
Reconcile against QuickBooks optional
Drop the same account exported from QuickBooks and the hawk matches every line: what is missing in QuickBooks, what is in QuickBooks but not on the statement, and what has the wrong amount. No AI here, just arithmetic in your browser.
Drop the QuickBooks exportCSV or ExcelQBO: Reports → Transaction Detail by Account → this bank or card account, statement period plus a week either side → Export to Excel. The register's export icon works too.
On the statement, not in QuickBooks
Missing entries. The bank-feed CSV can export just these.
In QuickBooks, not on the statement
Recent ones are timing (they clear next month). Older ones are probably errors or duplicates.
Amount differs
Same payee and date, different amount. Transposed digits are called out.
Import those, then reconcile in QuickBooks: it should hit zero on the first try.

Everything a statement needs, in one drop
Proven, not just converted
Opening plus money in minus money out must equal closing, per side and per row when the statement prints a running balance. A misread digit shows up here, not at month end.
Credit cards done right
Purchases out, payments and refunds in, whatever sign convention the bank printed. Card payments and transfers are flagged so they never land as expenses.
You decide the accounts
Drop your chart of accounts and the hawk suggests one per payee with a reason. Accept or change each; nothing is exported with an account you did not confirm.
Reconcile before you import
Drop the QuickBooks export and see what is missing, what is outstanding and what has the wrong amount. Then import only the missing lines.
Clean descriptions
Card masks, reference codes and POS noise are stripped so the payee reads cleanly. The original text stays in the Excel, and you can keep it in the CSV if your QuickBooks rules need it.
QuickBooks-ready exports
The bank-feed CSV in QuickBooks' 3- or 4-column layout, split at 1,000 lines, plus an Excel workbook and journal entries with your confirmed accounts.
FAQ
Good questions
Which files can I drop?
The statement PDF from the bank, a photo or screenshot of it, or a CSV / Excel file you already converted. Bank accounts, savings and credit cards. One account per drop: if a PDF holds two accounts, the first one is read and the hawk tells you.
Is my statement stored anywhere?
Not on this site. The statement is sent to Google's Gemini AI so it can be read; account numbers are kept to the last four digits. On the free AI tier Google may use content to improve its products, so please use sample or anonymized statements for now. The reconcile step never leaves your browser.
How do I import the CSV into QuickBooks?
Transactions → Bank transactions → Link account dropdown → Upload from file, choose the account, then map the columns. With the 4-column file, map Credit to money received and Debit to money spent. With the 3-column file, negative amounts are money out. QuickBooks takes 1,000 lines per upload; bigger statements are split into numbered files for you.
Why are my credit card imports usually reversed?
Card issuers print charges and payments with different sign conventions, and QuickBooks expects charges as money out. LedgerHawk decides the side by what each line is, not by its sign, and proves the result against the previous and new balance. If a statement still ties only when swapped, it says so and one click swaps every row.
What does the chart of accounts add?
Suggestions only. With your chart loaded, each payee gets a suggested account, a confidence level and a one-line reason. You accept or change them, and rows you did not confirm go to Uncategorized in the journal-entry export so they stay visible in QuickBooks. Without a chart you get the clean bank-feed CSV and categorize in QuickBooks as usual.
What do I export from QuickBooks to reconcile?
Reports → Transaction Detail by Account, filtered to this bank or card account, for the statement period plus a week either side, exported to Excel. The register's export icon works too. If the export has a Balance column the opening and closing checks fill themselves; otherwise type the two balances from the register.
